Alex Wolf Lewis is a cinematographer and an award-winning director. He began his career as a Local 600 camera assistant. When a spot opened up on the show Anthony Bourdain: Part Unknown, he bought his own ticket to Madagascar which began a 4 year world tour and his career. Since then he has shot commercials, narrative projects and documentaries that have screened at major festivals all over the world including Sundance, Tribeca, SXSW, TIFF, New York Film Festival,  and Venice.

He worked on Laura Poitras’ Academy Award® and BAFTA Nominated feature documentary All The Beauty and The Bloodshed (Golden Lion Venice Film Festival, NEON, HBO),  Road Runner (CNN) directed by Academy Award® Winner Morgan Neville,  Living Undocumented (Netflix), United Shades of America (CNN), Well Groomed (SXSW, HBO), and has shot for Vice on HBO, as well as Discovery, A&E, PBS, and APPLE +. 

He co-directed Snowy, a comedic short doc about his uncle’s pet turtle which had its world premiere at Sundance, played at over 90 festivals, received multiple awards including a Critics’ Choice Award nomination and was acquired by Time Studios. Currently, he is co-directing/ DP’ing a feel-good feature documentary about a wastewater plant in Maine (surprisingly it’s not the smelliest place he’s been). 

Selected commercial clients include Saucony,  Intel, Codecademy, Staples, and Hannaford. He shot Keith Urban’s music video Brown Eyes Baby for director Carter Smith.

Narrative work includes the indie feature Swallowed  (Dir. Carter Smith) starring Jenna Malone, Cooper Koch and Mark Patton, which received  the U.S Narrative Grand Jury Prize at Newfest and played at Overlook and Fantasia Film Festivals. He served as the B Cam Op/ 2nd Unit DP on the feature Critical Thinking, directed by John Leguizamo (World Premiere SXSW).  Selected shorts include, We Want Our Money Back (Dir. E. Mermelstein - Palm Springs International Film Festival) and Ramp, which received support from Panavision. 

When not making films, he volunteers as an EMT/ Firefighter.

H.E.A.T Certified (Hostile Environment Awareness Training). Licensed E.M.T in the State of Maine. Fluent in Italian. F.A.A. Part 107 Certified Drone Operator.
